The New Jersey native looks to make an impact in his 3rd year

Name: Joe Rondi

Position: Defensive tackle

Year: (Redshirt) Freshman

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 268 lbs

Hometown: Wayne, N.J.

High School: Wayne Hills

2020 stats: Rondi missed the season with an injury.

2021 projections: Syracuse bringing back their starting defensive line is going to make it difficult for Rondi to see significant time, but if healthy he can provide depth and contribute on special teams before a bigger role in 2022.

How’d he get here?: Chose Syracuse over Rutgers and Buffalo, and for a top-40 recruit in New Jersey it was a nice grab by the Orange.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from everyone.

Money quote: It was an emotional day when Joe officially signed with Syracuse

““It’s a lot of emotions, but one thing on my mind right now is just getting ready this off-season to be a Division I athlete,” said Rondi. “I never dreamed of getting to this level, but now that it’s actually here it’s amazing. I am so blessed.”

Tweets of wonder: Joe’s stopped tweeting but might need a new profile pic for his new jersey number.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: This year, Dino goes with the John Wayne classic “True Grit”. Wayne’s portrayal of U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn will serve to remind Rondi that returning from injury and earning snaps will come from hard work and maximum effort.

Interesting nugget o’interest: No need to change this one from last year

“Rondi’s family is neighbors with former SU and New York Giants wideout David Tyree. Yes. That David Tyree.”

Let’s get a look at ya: From Rondi’s Signing Day here’s Vinson Reynolds talking about the player the Orange were getting out of the Garden State
