Position: Defensive Back
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 192 lbs
Hometown: Farmingdale, N.J.
High School: Saint John Vianney
2020 stats: Calabro played in one game last year in his debut on the field, appearing in the NC State game.
2021 projections: The assumption is that Calabro will still be limited to scout team work and maybe an occasional special teams appearance. But who knows, after it seemed like every DB got injured last year.
How’d he get here?: Smaller schools such as Wagner and Pace were interested enough to give Calabro a scholarship offer, and there were reports that other teams were interested in a PWO spot for him.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Nada.
Money quote: His athletic director commented on his decision to commit to ‘Cuse:
“He’s a very intelligent young man and he realizes that he wants to put his academics first. He and his family were thrilled about Syracuse. They loved the opportunity to go to school there.”

Tweets of wonder: Former ST coach Justin Lustig always gave out special teams awards per week, and Calabro has been on there a few times for his scout team work.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: I bet Dino is a “Seinfeld” fan, and while not a movie, the popular show would be one that he’d recommend. Most people are familiar with the major characters, including Jason Alexander staring as George Costanza.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Calabro also played in the slot as a receiver in high school and scored three touchdowns as an upperclassman.
Let’s get a look at ya: Camp Oklahoma drills still make for good video.
Oklahoma drill No. 1: the defense dominated today. Here’s walk-on DB AJ Calabro coming downhill to make a couple stops on walk-on Ethan Fischler. Then a front of Zach Morton, Shaq Grosvenor and Drew Tuazama clogs the hole on third down. pic.twitter.com/vmngN6Kg4K
