Get to Know Your Orange Man: #56, DL Patrick Alberga

Coming down out of the mountains to play some ball.

Syracuse v Maryland

Name: Patrick Alberga

Position: Defensive Line

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 247 lbs.

Hometown: Saranac Lake, N.Y.

High School: Saranac Lake

2020 stats: Didn’t record any, as he redshirted, but didn’t because he didn’t need to? Thanks 2020...

2021 projections: He’s a likely redshirt option for Syracuse, with the entire defensive front returning as well as the depth there.

How’d he get here?: He was a PWO coming out of high school, which says a lot from a Class C school like Saranac Lake. He’s only the third Division I player to come out of the school.

What’d recruiting sites say?: No rankings.

Money quote: On the learning curve coming into camp, during an interview with the Press Republican:

“What I’m learning is very heavily technique based,” Alberga said. “In high school, I could just run over guys. It’s completely different here. I’m going up against really, really big guys. So far at least, I haven’t really been focusing on trying to learn the formations. I’m just trying to get my technique a lot better.”

Twitter feed: Not present.

Tweets of wonder: You didn’t know he was Saranac Lake’s kicker too? Shame.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: In things I didn’t expect to find that tie to pop culture, the 2014 reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had it’s main action scene filmed at the former Big Tupper ski hill. Nice little feather in the cap of Alberga’s town adjacent to his hometown.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Alberga has an eye for photography as well, having a photo of the Hall of Languages featured on Syracuse’s home page from the Fall of 2020. That site also had numerous references to “The Stadium” so you know it’s legit.

Let’s get a look at ya: Hudl!
