Name: Mark Petry
Position: Offensive tackle
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 274
Hometown: Hochheim am Main, Germany
High School: Graf-Stauffenberg-Gymnasium
Prior School: Ellsworth Community College
2020 Stats: Played in 10 games last year as a part of the PAT/FG unit. Blocking for Andre Szmyt isn’t a bad gig by any stretch.
2021 Projections: Petry has put about ten pounds on from last season, where he got a little run with the special teams side. Overall probably not pushing out any incumbent starters at present, but pushing towards that end of things depending on how the summer and camp end up going this season. .
How’d He Get Here?: He spent his freshmen at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa. He’s likely, along with Maximillian Mang, the co-first player in Syracuse history to hail from Germany.
What’d Recruiting Sites Say?: 3-Star recruit according to Rivals. He was the #31 offensive tackle recruit from the JuCo ranks per 247Sports.
Money Quote: Mark talked to Europe’s Elite, about why a DI team should take a flyer on him.
“I think I am reliable athlete and responsible young man. I am someone any coach can depend on, both on the field and in the community. Lastly, I know I will out work anyone on the roster, because I simply want it more than everyone else.”

Tweets Of Wonder: Hanging out with his fellow alumni from Germany after the Notre Dame game.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Gonna go with The Fighter, starring Mark Walhberg. The film follows the tale of underdog boxer Mickey Ward and his fight to make a name for himself and rise to the light welterweight title.
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: As mentioned before he is apparently (along with incoming freshman Max Mang) the first German recruit to play for Syracuse football.
