The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program added yet another non-conference game on Monday as they get closer and closer to finalizing the list of opponent for the 2021-22 season. According to an announcement, SU will host the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on December 18.

For Syracuse, it’s the second Patriot League game added in the last week, after it was announced last Friday that the Orange would host Lafayette on November 9. While Lafayette won the regular season title in the Pat League last season, Lehigh finished just 4-11 and lost to Boston University in the first round of the conference tournament. The Mountain Hawks haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2012, when they knocked off Duke in round one, so we’re among friends.

Like Lafayette, Lehigh’s never beaten Syracuse in men’s basketball. They’re 0-4 all-time, with the most recent loss coming in 2015; a too-close-for-comfort 57-47 victory for the Orange. Before that, the teams last played in 1931.

Though we won’t know the ACC schedule for some time, we do know the conference opponents the men’s basketball team will face for 2021-22 already. And between other announced events, the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and likely games vs. both Colgate and Cornell, we do know quite a bit about the upcoming slate at this point.

So that’s now up to 30 games accounted for if Cornell and Colgate are on the schedule once more. Syracuse could be gunning for a Pat League title with games against three squads (‘Gate, Lafayette, Lehigh) from that league. They could also win the Middle Three Conference if they wind up with Rutgers again in the ACC/B1G Challenge.
