Incoming Syracuse Orange men’s basketball freshman Benny Williams was named to the Jordan Brand Classic roster over the weekend. Williams, a 6-foot-8 forward from Maryland, is the No. 29 ranked recruit in the 2021 class by 247. He’s Syracuse’s highest rated recruit since Chris McCullough in 2014.
The Jordan Brand game will not be played this year due to the pandemic, but rosters were still announced. Williams played last season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Current Syracuse center Jesse Edwards also played one season of high school basketball at IMG.
Other incoming ACC played named to the JBC roster were all Duke players; those names are Paolo Banchero, A.J. Griffin and Trevor Keels.
The JBC is in its 20th year. Past Syracuse recruits that have played in the event include Jalen Carey, Malachi Richardson, McCullough, Tyler Ennis, Jerami Grant, Michael Carter-Williams, Rakeem Christmas, Michael Gbinije, Dion Waiters, Donte Greene, Paul Harris, Mike Jones and Carmelo Anthony.
