The Syracuse Orange track and field team is in Raleigh, NC for the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships starting tonight. While the Orange aren’t in position to contend for either team titles we will be watching for individuals who can earn All-ACC honors and secure positions in the NCAA Regionals field.

Amanda Vestri has been the most consistent Syracuse athlete this year and she’ll be one of several Orange runners in the 10k tonight and Saturday’s 5k event. Vestri enters with the fastest ACC time in the 10k this season and she’ll be joined by graduate students Annie Heffernan and Jordan Jacob as they face strong competition from the host Wolfpack.

The Syracuse men have a big group in the 10k with JP Trojan, Silas Derfel and Joe Dragon leading the way. Tonight we’ll also see Shaleah Colaire and Jamil Adams in the preliminaries of the 400m hurdles. Both of them have an opportunity to work into NCAA regional qualifying status in the event.

Other athletes to watch include Justus Holden-Betts and Aidan Tooker in the 3000m steeplechase and Anthony Vasquez in the 110m hurdles. We’ll have a full recap next week but you can catch the action on the ACC Network Extra starting tonight.
