The ACC announced their 2021 all-conference teams on Tuesday for women’s lacrosse, including first-team, second-team, and an all-freshman team.

No surprise, the Syracuse Orange cleaned up on the selections.

In fact, the Orange actually had the most all-league selections with eight, beating out powerhouse North Carolina’s six selections. Boston College and Notre Dame each finished with five. The teams were voted on by the league’s head coaches.

For Syracuse, Meaghan Tyrrell, Megan Carney and Sarah Cooper were selected to the All-ACC first team.

Sam Swart, Sierra Cockerille, Ella Simkins, Kerry Defliese and Asa Goldstock were selected to the second-team.

Finally, freshmen Emma Ward and Jenny Markey were selected to the all-freshman team.

It was certainly a surprise to see anybody but UNC have the most All-ACC selections, although the Tar Heels did have the most first-teamers with five.

Syracuse’s eight selections are not only the most of any team this year, they’re also the most for the Orange since joining the ACC back in 2014.

Sophomore Emma Tyrrell was not named All-ACC, but she did pick up a nice honor this week when she was named US Lacrosse Player of the Week thanks to her career-day scoring six goals and seven points in the 16-7 win over BC on Sunday.

Congrats to all the girls on these terrific accomplishments. They’ve all played key roles in helping SU have an incredibly successful regular season. And now, on to bigger things...

The team will start postseason play TODAY in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals against the No. 7 Virginia Tech Hokies, 5 PM on ACC Network. Tune in to cheer them on!

Let’s Go Orange!!!
