The Syracuse Orange outdoor track and field team was at the Virginia Challenge and War Eagle Invitational this weekend. Once again it was Amanda Vestri who stole the show as she won the 10k at Virginia in a time of 32:43 which set a new meet and facility record. Vestri’s time is currently the 3rd fastest in the country in the event and will qualify her for the NCAA Eastern Regional meet.

Annie Heffernan was 12th in the women’s 5k with a time of 16:07 which moves her into the ACC Top 10 in the event. Justus Holden-Betts ran a PR of 10:34 in the 3k steeplechase which was good for 13th place. While at Auburn, Shaleah Colaire finished 5th in both the 100m and 400m hurdles while Eunice Boateng was 10th in the 200m dash.
For the men, the hurdle group of Jamil Adams (4th), Anthony Vasquez (5th) and David Peters (10th) all placed at Auburn. Adams came back to finish 4th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.15 which puts him 8th in the ACC this season.
At Virginia, JP Trojan was 3rd in the men’s 10k with Silas Derfel and Joe Dragon also earning top-10 ACC performances in the event. The Orange have a month to prepare for the ACC Championships at Clemson so we’ll keep you posted on upcoming meets.
