First Meeting: December 2, 1960 featured the first game between the two programs. The Tigers, led by head coach Press Maravich, won 78-67 over the Orange during the Kent State Tournament to start the season. Pete Chudy led Syracuse with 19 points.

Last Meeting: Syracuse came out flat on the road against Clemson back on February 6 and didn’t look ready to play the Tigers. Clemson capitalized with a 20-point lead at halftime that the Tigers rode to a 78-61 win. Joe Girard led the Orange with 19 points.

Head Coaches: Syracuse - Jim Boeheim (45th year, 1,079-406) | Clemson - Brad Brownell (11th year, 200-147)

Coach Bio: Brownell played his collegiate basketball at D-III DePauw before moving into coaching. His first job was as an assistant for his hometown university in Evansville for a season. Brownell then moved to the University of Indianapolis for two seasons before joining the staff at UNC Wilmington. He would later become the head coach of the Seahawks in 2002 and went to two NCAA tournaments with the program in four seasons. Brownell then took the head coaching job at Wright State. He led the Raiders to an NCAA tournament appearance in his first season and won at least 20 games in each of his four seasons with Wright State.

Brownell took the head coaching job at Clemson in 2010 and much like his previous two jobs, led the Tigers to an NCAA tournament appearance in his first season with the team. The Tigers made one more NCAA tournament appearance under Brownell in 2018 and won at least 20 games in four seasons.

Last Year: Clemson regressed during the 2019-20 season, winning four less games than the previous season. The Tigers did pick up three ranked wins in the season over No. 3 Duke, No. 5 Louisville, and No. 6 Florida State. Clemson earned the eight-seed in the ACC tournament and won its first game against Miami. The Tigers wouldn’t get the chance to play Florida State again due to the event’s cancellation.

Last Game: Uncharacteristically, Clemson’s defense wasn’t razor sharp against Miami on Saturday as the Hurricanes shot just over 46% from the floor to trail the Tigers by only four points heading into halftime. However, an early second-half run gave Clemson the cushion it needed to comfortably win 66-58 over Miami.

“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Timelords”: Aamir Sims couldn’t be stopped the last time Syracuse and Clemson played. He scored 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 11 boards. Sims leads Clemson with 13.6 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game.

If Syracuse Wins: Two-touchdown lead rule in the next football game is still in affect.

If Syracuse Loses: Someone ask Wake Forest if they want to play Saturday. Just as a pick-me-up game.

Fun Fact: Clemson is only 1-3 in games at Syracuse.
