Recruiting season for the Syracuse Orange Class of 2022 is continuing to pick up steam. The latest commitment has come from Malachi Davis, a 3-star defensive end from Michigan. This should help fill in a position of need for the Orange and bolster the depth along the defensive front.

At 6-foot-5 and 245 lbs, Malachi comes in with a frame ready to be tuned by college S&C programs. He will start to fill in a defensive line that has needed some replenishment after a rash of depth transfers this offseason, including Zach Morton, Jason Munoz, Kevin Lemieux and Cooper Dawson.

Davis will come to Syracuse from Michigan State country, attending Holt Senior High School, outside of Lansing, MI. He was an All-Conference offensive tackle and All-Region defensive end selection his junior year. Center Carlos Vettorello is the lone “official” Michigan native on the current team, though Eric Coley also played most of high school ball there as well.

He received offers from Louisville, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Air Force and most of the MAC. Two Power Five schools in the mix indicates we’re in good company picking up the (currently) strong side defensive end. He is the third commitment for the Orange in the Class of 2022, along with defensive back Cornell Perry and running back LeQuint Allen.
