GameThread: Syracuse Orange (10-5, 4-4) vs. Clemson Tigers (11-5, 5-5)

Can Syracuse earn its first quadrant one victory of the season?

NCAA Basketball: Clemson at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team returns to game action for the first time in six days as Jim Boeheim’s team will take on the Clemson Tigers shortly. Wednesday’s game against Louisville was postponed.

Syracuse has won three of its last four games while Clemson has dropped four of its last six. The Tigers have suffered an average margin of defeat by 24.5 points in its four most recent losses.

Syracuse needs a win like this on its NCAA Tournament résumé for myriad reasons. The Orange are just 1-4 in road games this season with the lone win coming at Boston College. Syracuse is also in search of its first quadrant one win of the season. Clemson is No. 54 in NET, meaning the game falls within Q1 (1-75 NET ranking for road games). Virginia Tech moved up briefly into Q1, but moved back to Q2 after a loss to Pittsburgh. To a lesser extent, Syracuse could find itself competing with Clemson for an at-large bid, so a head-to-head victory could prove important.

Syracuse opened as a two-point underdog with the over/under set at 134. If you missed any of our pregame coverage, check that below.
