Good news/bad news for ACC men’s basketball teams for the 2021-22 season

It’s #JokesandGarbage tip-off time

The new college basketball season is upon us and while we are focused on the Syracuse Orange it’s never too soon to give our fellow ACC schools a bit of trash-talk. Instead of telling you why you’re jerks and haters we’ll give you something good and bad for you as the 2021-22 season gets underway.

Boston College Eagles

Good: A new Head Coach brings optimism to Chestnut Hill where there hasn’t been any recently.

Bad: Unfortunate for Eagles fans the NCAA Tournament hasn’t expanded to 128 teams

Clemson Tigers

Good: The football team’s struggles will mean fans will be too focused on what Dabo needs to do for next Fall to notice what the Vice-Principal is doing.

Bad: Without Aamir Simms around to cover up their flaws the Tigers might be spending more time in BC and Wake’s neighborhood this year.

Duke Blue Devils

Good: You know early on that you have more season of Coach K on the sideline to savor and enjoy.

Bad: You are going to have to deal with an entire season of Coach K Farewell Tour nonsense

Florida State Seminoles

Good: Leonard Hamilton doesn’t look a day over 55

Bad: The Seminoles haven’t been to the Final Four since Leonard was coaching at Austin Peay

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Good: No more Josh Pastner and his full face shield on the sideline

Bad: Jose Alvarado’s eight years of eligibility ended.

Louisville Cardinals

Good: People have stopped thinking about Rick Pitino and his white suits and those allegations.

Bad: The current HC might be shadier and he hasn’t shown he’s got what it takes to win a title that will be stripped away years later

Miami Hurricanes

Good: Isaiah Wong is worth the price of admission.

Bad: Miami fans seem to be waiting until he’s on the Heat to pay to see him....at least he’ll still be worth it.

UNC Tar Heels

Good: Hubert Davis won’t wear those ugly argyle sport coats on the sideline

Bad: Huge decrease in “Dadgummit” in the Dean Dome this winter.

NC State Wolfpack

Good: No more watching Braxton Beverly’s defensive “effort”

Bad: Kevin Keatts’ shoe game is muted with the casual sideline attire

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Good: We see how far Mike Brey can push this casual attire on the sidelines. Will he coach in shorts with socks and sandals one game?

Bad: We aren’t far from Brey on the sidelines in a bathrobe and slippers

Pittsburgh Panthers

Good: Those uniforms are among the best in the nation

Bad: The players wearing them are not among the best in the nation

NCAA Basketball: Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse Orange

Good: The Boeheim haters have triple the reasons to tune in to Cuse games this year

Bad: When was the last time a team with four white starters made the Final Four?

Virginia Cavaliers

Good: Carson McCorkle’s destined to have a game where he comes off the bench and hits 6-7 threes

Bad: It’s going to take a few months for Cavaliers fans not to wince every time the announcer says “Malachi Poindexter”

Virginia Tech Hokies

Good: You have a good Head Coach who doesn’t sweat through his shirts on the sideline each game.

Bad: You still play in the worst gym in Division I*

*according to James Szuba

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Good: Carter Whitt’s hair is the envy of every ACC athlete...yes including the lacrosse players

Bad: Instead of running in the Wake midfield Whitt is stuck running with a team which not be top 10 in their own state

Now for ACC fans the good news is that once the ball goes up all these predictions go out the window. The bad news is that it can also get worse...much much worse...like Jim Christian era Boston College bad even.

Don’t worry though at least you’re not Georgetown
