Syracuse football: Sean Tucker, Courtney Jackson among ACC players of the week

On top of the win, the Orange also pick up some individual awards in-conference.

While we were all pleased with the Syracuse Orange’s performance on Saturday, as SU picked up a 21-6 win over the Boston College Eagles, the victory wouldn’t have been possible without some key individual performances. On Monday, the ACC acknowledged two Orange players directly responsible for the W.

After rushing for a career-high 207 yards (and a touchdown) against BC, it’s no surprise to see Sean Tucker acknowledged by the ACC for the third time this season. The star Syracuse running back has spent most of the year resetting the school record books, and could wind up with SU’s single-season rushing record as soon as the Saturday after the bye, against Louisville.

Tucker has over 1,300 total yards and 13 touchdowns on the year. On Monday, he was named a Maxwell Award semifinalist. And if you’re interested in wagering on these sorts of things, he also has +15000 odds, per DraftKings (odds/lines subject to change. T&Cs apply. See draftkings.com/sportsbook for details).

Courtney Jackson also received ACC honors this week too, as the conference’s top specialist. Filling in for the injured Trebor Pena on return duty, Jackson took back a 64-yard punt in the third quarter to extend Syracuse’s lead over BC to 21-6. While Jackson’s become a favorite target of SU quarterback Garrett Shrader, this is Courtney’s first time with an all-ACC nod this year.

Congrats to both of the guys as they get to enjoy a well-deserved week off now before the stretch run.
