#FakeNunes previews Syracuse vs. Wake Forest

Can the Orange get back on the winning track?

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means... time for the blog that gave you the internet’s most ridiculous college football preview series- it’s #FakeNunes time. Have we found some creative ways to get #jokesandgarbage into a Syracuse Orange preview? You be the judge.

Now onto this week’s opponent

Opponent: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Students: 5,225 students who don’t want basketball season to start

The 2021 Fake Nunes Statistical Index (#FNSI)

We continue to look to innovate our analytics model so we here’s what the lab cooked up for this season.

Uniforms:

Syracuse

We’re a week away from the “Orange Out” which means we should expect Syracuse to go traditional home but we wouldn’t be surprised if they go with orange jerseys this week for #brand

NCAA Football: Liberty at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest

White jerseys are probably a lock but will it be black helmet/pants or gold helmet/pants?

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Advantage: Wake Forest if they go black helmets

Weekend event in town:

We recognize that some of you might need something else to do to celebrate a win or forget a loss, so we’re picking one community event from each city and determining which is more fun.

Winston-Salem: Carolina Classic Fair. It’s like the New York State Fair but with Sky High Skyler. Who’s Sky High Skyler? Well....

Sky High Skyler stands 9 feet tall and wears a vast array of costumes. Sky High is friendly and high energy.

Syracuse- The Lafayette Apple Festival

Giant outdoor fall festival set in a lovely apple orchard in Central New York. We have ample parking and lots of activities and entertainment. Family fun at a fall festival!

Advantage: Wake because not many people stand 9 feel tall while being friendly and high energy

Football Program Hashtag:

None vs #GoDeacs

Pretty simple, which is what it should be.

Advantage: Wake Forest

Offensive Line Coach Looks Like:

Fans of the LeBatard Show might know this game, it’s where we guess what is the best description for each team’s offensive line coach. This week’s match-up:

Nick Tabacca looks like a guy who wants you to really pay attention to what he’s about to say because it will be on your Global Studies final.

Mike Schmidt looks like he wants the town board to know that his real estate project will put the community on the map

Advantage: Syracuse because everyone loves a win-win real estate deal

The Official #FakeNunes Game Prediction:

Dave Clawson decides that he wants to keep Wake’s CFP hopes alive while boosting the Heisman campaign for Nick Sciba. To do this Clawson plays for field goals and Sciba hits his first seven attempts while the Orange are able to cobble together three touchdowns tying the game in the fourth quarter. Wake marches down the field to set up the game-winning kick but Sciba’s attempt hits the fingertips of Josh Black and falls short. The Orange get a nice Abdul Adams catch and run and Dino sends out Andre Szmyt at the end of regulation for a 51-yard game winner. Syracuse celebrates while Jim Phillips tears up his plans for the new Charlotte office space.
