After the Syracuse Orange football team knocked off Virginia Tech on Saturday, they sit at 4-4 with at least some chance to make a bowl game. Recent history’s a toss-up around whether or not SU can get to the postseason, but still: We have some hope with four weeks left. That’s a plus.

For starters, ESPN’s FPI gives Syracuse a 35.4% to win six games or more, though the next two games are the most likely to net victories. Team Rankings says 39%. But ultimately, a lot hinges on the Boston College game. We’ll get into more of this next week, though, if the Orange knock off the Eagles.

Before that, though, who has faith in SU already?

While there are still a lot of doubters — and reasonably so given the remaining schedule — it’s encouraging that there’s also a growing pool of believers. All of the bowls included above make sense from a competition standpoint and location standpoint. Purdue’s probably the most interesting for everyone here, though we also face the Boilermakers during the next two non-conference slates. None of these teams are unbeatable, either, so that’s another positive.

Where would you like to see Syracuse go bowling, though, within reason? Pinstripe Bowl (especially vs. Minnesota) seems a bit boring on this end, but beggars can’t be choosers either.
