Syracuse releases depth chart for Saturday matchup against Virginia Tech

The Hokies will see some semblance of what’s on this sheet later this week.

Another week, another Syracuse Orange football depth chart. Coming off last week’s third straight heartbreaker against the Clemson Tigers, there were some shakeups to the program, most notably former QB1 and recent QB2, Tommy DeVito entering the transfer portal. There were also a few shake ups in other positions on the chart. Here’s looking at what we’re seeing as a baseline against the Virginia Tech Hokies:

The big note is that Jacobian Morgan steps into the QB2 shoes. He was DeVito’s backup last season and got a bit of run later in the year when DeVito and Rex Culpepper both went down injured, which of course meant that he was also bound to go down injured. Healthy again, he’s listed as the newly minted QB2 behind Garrett Shrader.

The targets listed for the aforementioned quarterbacks had some minor changes as well, with the OR designation shifting from between Courtney Jackson and DeVaughn Cooper, down to between Cooper and Trebor Pena. At the third WR spot, Umari Hatcher steps into the role vacated by the injured Orande Gadsden II.

Last thing of note would be that Justin Barron has overtaken Rob Hanna on the chart for the ROV1 slot. The COVID freshmen still have the OR designator between them, but Barron shows up on top this week, with Hanna behind for the first time this season.
