The Syracuse Orange football team’s upcoming game vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies is already slated to appear on your local RSN, and the same will go for the next matchup with the Boston College Eagles on October 30.
According to a Monday release from the ACC, Syracuse vs. Boston College is one of two games to get the RSN treatment in week nine. Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech will be an RSN game at noon ET, while SU vs. BC takes place at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The move is an understandable one from a TV perspective given the regional nature of this matchup and the lesser fortunes of both teams as well. Since starting 3-1 on the year, the Orange have lost three straight — all by three points (/sobs). Boston College started 4-0 despite an injury-laden start to the year, but has lost two straight, albeit to Clemson and NC State, respectively.
As you know, this is a “rivalry” game in the sense that BC and Syracuse are each others’ best options on that front for football, and we’ve had a few interesting matchups over the years. ‘Cuse leads the all-time series 32-22, but has lost two straight. The teams have split the series 4-4 since being reunited in the ACC. It’s potentially notable that neither has one more than two in a row against the other since SU took four straight from 1995 to 1998.
Obviously one game at a time, though. If Syracuse can beat Virginia Tech this Saturday, we’ll all feel a whole lot better going into this one with a possible .500 record.
