Syracuse football wearing all-orange uniforms vs. Clemson

It’s nice of SU to stake its claim to the color orange against the other team that tries to do so.

The Syracuse Orange certainly seem to be taking advantage of one branding opportunity on Friday night. When SU lines up against the Clemson Tigers, they’ll be wearing entirely orange uniforms — orange helmets, orange jerseys and orange pants.

The all-orange look coincides with an “orange out” at the Dome, which the student section will also be part of with Syracuse/Gatorade-branded towels. SU will be celebrating the late Hall-of-Famer Floyd Little at halftime of the game, so the all-orange look is a great tribute for the ‘Cuse alum.

This is Syracuse’s first time wearing all orange this season, and they’re unfortunately 0-3 when they’ve previously worn this combination (with the current uniform set) — suffering losses to Wake Forest last year, and NC State and Boston College back in 2019. Thankfully the poor record doesn’t deter them against Clemson, the other ACC team that tries to claim orange as “their” color. In some previous home matchups, SU has decidedly looked less than orange against the Tigers (like 2015 when they wore all blue at the Dome).

Syracuse is 6-15 in orange helmets since 2019, and just 1-2 this season (1-1 at home). They’re just 2-5 in orange jerseys since 2019, but 1-1 this year (both home games). In the orange pants, SU is 6-12, though 2-2 this fall (2-1 at home).

Assuming we’re all pretty pleased with the look? Couldn’t think of a better team to wear all orange against, personally. But feel free to weigh in with your own uniform takes below.
