Dana O'Neil's The Big East: Inside the Most Entertaining and Influential Conference in College Basketball History will arrive in bookstores in less than a month (preorder from you local store or from bookshop.org today). I had the chance to read an advanced copy this summer and found it to be an absolutely fantastic read that is sure to please any college basketball fan. O'Neil covers the ragtag formation of the league, its outstanding league-wide success of the mid 80s, the expansion era of the 90s and the eventual football induced destruction of the league. JIm Boeheim and the Orange feature prominently throughout the book. Even the biggest college basketball fans will learn something new reading The Big East.
There is however, one big problem with this book, the cover features noted Hoya Patrick Ewing. No self respecting Orange fan want's a Hoya on their bookshelf, so I've created a few alternative covers to replace the one created by the publisher.
