Syracuse football vs. Virginia Tech kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. ET on RSN

Thankfully, we won’t be seeing these #PLATINUM Syracuse football jerseys.

While we’re all looking forward to the Syracuse Orange football team’s Friday game against Clemson, we’ve gotten word of the next game for SU as well. According to an announcement from the ACC on Monday, Syracuse’s October 23 game at the Virginia Tech Hokies will kick at 12:30 p.m. on your local RSN.

Of course, those that don’t have ACC Network are probably happy to see this game on a local RSN, where they can actually watch. On the other hand, watching a game on a local RSN is akin to watching people encounter Syracuse football for the first time, so... pick your poison, I suppose?

As you know, Syracuse hasn’t faced Virginia Tech since all the way back in 2016, when they knocked off the Hokies at the Carrier Dome. It was Dino Babers’s first big upset as coach at SU, and led to the first — and maybe most exciting — of the post-game locker room speeches.

This would only be the second meeting between the schools since the Orange joined the ACC, and the first in Blacksburg, Va. SU hasn’t won at Lane Stadium since 2001, though that’s only a couple trips ago. Last time they were at Virginia Tech, ‘Cuse lost 51-7 in 2003.

Neither Syracuse or Virginia Tech seem all that capable of a drubbing like that this season — at least based on prior results. Tech’s 3-2 on the year (0-1 in the ACC), and just lost to Notre Dame by three over the weekend. The Hokies’ wins have come vs. North Carolina (17-10), Middle Tennessee (35-14) and Richmond (21-10). Every win’s come at home. Both of their losses have also come by a combined nine points — something we can relate to a bit.
