The preseason accolades keep rolling in for the Syracuse Orange lacrosse programs.

This week, Inside Lacrosse announced their preseason Top 20 rankings for Division 1, and the ‘Cuse men’s and women’s teams were both ranked No. 3 in their respective polls.

This is the second major publication to put our their preseason polls, after US Lacrosse Magazine ranked the men No. 2 and the women No. 4 back in the first week of January.

In those polls, SU was the only school to put both their teams in the Top 5. This time, they’re joined in that honor by fellow ACC member North Carolina.

Unsurprisingly, the ACC finds much joy in the IL preseason rankings. For the men, all five conference teams are ranked in the Top 8, while the women placed seven of their eight teams into the Top 20.

Once again, the men are ranked behind the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils and, this time, the No. 2 Maryland Terrapins.

The women, meanwhile, come in behind their own ACC rivals, the No. 1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels and the No. 2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The college lacrosse season is rapidly approaching, with the first Division 1 lacrosse games scheduled to take place this coming weekend. The Orange are a little behind that schedule, but the men will be starting practice next week as the calendar turns to February 1.

We are expecting a full schedule for the men’s team to be released at some point this week, so stay tuned for that exciting news to see who the No. 3 ranked Orange will be taking on in 2021.
