For the second straight week, a Syracuse Orange women’s basketball player has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week. Kamilla Cardoso was honored this week after averaging a double-double over ‘Cuse’s last three-game stretch.
The Brazil native tallied 11.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest last week. In the first game of the week, Cardoso recorded a career-best 16 rebounds and 10 points in the team’s win over North Carolina. On Thursday, the freshman contributed another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in Syracuse’s loss at No. 1 Louisville.
On Sunday, Cardoso had 12 points and six rebounds in the Orange’s overtime loss at Clemson.

The freshman leads the ACC in multiple categories, including field goal percentage (.596), blocked shots (2.7), and offensive rebounds (3.6).
Priscilla Williams was named the ACC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 18.
After a 2-2 week, Syracuse fell out of the AP Top 25 Poll this week for the first time this season. The Orange (7-3, 4-3 ACC) will host Pittsburgh on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. EST on ACCNX.
