Where can you watch ‘classic’ Syracuse games? (week of August 3)

ACC Network Takeover, and more!

So it seems like we’re still seeing football this fall? (at least for the time being)

In advance of that, however, there are still numerous Syracuse Orange games from the past on television. Last week, there really weren’t any (sorry). But to make up for that, there are a ton of options available — in part, courtesy of SU’s ACC Network Takeover day. So set your DVRs. Here are the Syracuse games you’re able to watch this week:

(all times ET)

Tuesday, August 4

Syracuse football at NC State (2019), 3 a.m. — ACC Network

You can’t make me. I spoke with NC State fans on the way out of this football travesty last year, and they said it was an insult to football, despite the Pack winning. They’d be correct.

Wednesday, August 5

Syracuse men’s basketball at Notre Dame (2012), 7 p.m. — ACC Network

Nooooope on this one, too. As a refresher, the unbeaten and top-ranked Orange went to South Bend to take on Notre Dame without Fab Melo. And instead of continuing an impressive March to a potential unbeaten season, we sort of got trounced. Can’t blame the Irish for wanting to relive this one. I just refuse to.

Thursday, August 6

Syracuse women’s basketball vs. Florida State (2020), 5:30 p.m. — ESPNU

In case you haven’t rewatched the infinitely clutch Emily Engstler in action at the buzzer here, go check that out yet again. SU picks up the 90-89 overtime upset over the top-10 ‘Noles.

Friday, August 7

Syracuse football vs. Western Michigan (2019), midnight — ACC Network

For the second year in a row, things got dicey between Syracuse and WMU. And then SU spent the fourth keeping themselves ahead and pushing the lead to 19 points in a 52-33 win. This one’s fun for the offensive fireworks, if nothing else.

Syracuse women’s basketball vs. Florida State (2020), 5 a.m. — ESPNU

Just in case you missed the last showing, here’s another.

“Packer and Durham” with Syracuse guests, 8 a.m. — ACC Network

We don’t know who the Syracuse guests are just yet, but whoever they are will likely be a good time.

Syracuse women’s soccer vs. Colgate (2019), 10 a.m. — ACC Network

The Orange picked up a 1-0 win against rival Colgate courtesy of a Laurel Hess goal in the 68th minute.

Syracuse men’s lacrosse vs. Duke (2015 ACC Championship), noon — ACC Network

Trailing 6-2 after one quarter, the Orange ran through Duke the rest of the way en route to a 15-14 win and the ACC title. Of course, we’d trade this for a national championship, but this was still an incredibly fun game.

Syracuse women’s basketball vs. Louisville (2016 ACC Tournament), 2 p.m. — ACC Network

Syracuse jumped into the rankings in mid-February, and were steadily climbing in what wound up being a prelude to the 2016 NCAA Tournament run. The biggest hint this could be a special team came in the ACC Tournament semifinals, when the Orange knocked off a top-10 Louisville team, 80-75 — which is the win you get to watch here.

Syracuse football vs. Kansas State (2010 Pinstripe Bowl), 4 p.m. — ACC Network

This one was for all the bologna and Gatorade. Upstart Syracuse went back-and-forth with K-State for most of the game, and would’ve potentially wound up tied at 36 late in the fourth if not for a controversial penalty called on the Wildcats. “Controversial” is in the eye of the beholder, of course...

Syracuse men’s basketball at UConn (2012), 6:30 p.m. — ACC Network

After the bad vibes of the earlier 2012 game this week, jump into this fun one — a 71-69 win at UConn that clinched the regular season Big East title for Syracuse. Kris Joseph scored 21 and Fab Melo had 11 points, including what ended up being the go-ahead points. C.J. Fair’s block before the buzzer preserved the win, just to add to the excitement this game provided.

Syracuse men’s basketball vs UConn (2009 Big East Tournament), 8 p.m. — ACC Network

And if one win over UConn wasn’t enough, how about the Six Overtime Game? You don’t need me to describe what happened, since you know. But rewatch it anyway.

Sunday, August 9

Syracuse women’s basketball vs. Virginia Tech (2018), 4 p.m. — ACC Network

A 15-point ACC Tournament win for the Hokies that you potentially just erased from your mind.
