Where can you watch ‘classic’ Syracuse games? (week of August 24)

You only have a couple choices.

NCAA Basketball: Syracuse at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

With the football season supposedly coming up, you probably want to watch some Syracuse Orange football this week. You can do that... just not on TV.

While some weeks have a lot of Syracuse-related games, this is not one of them. Instead, you get a couple of basketball games (men’s and women’s, respectively) which are both on ACC Network and both involve Notre Dame AND are both on Wednesday. Also, a late addition to Saturday that you won’t enjoy...

(all times ET)

Wednesday, August 26

Syracuse men’s basketball at Notre Dame (2020), 1 p.m. — ACC Network

Less than three weeks after the Orange’s disappointing late loss vs. the Irish at the Dome, they were on the road to face Notre Dame once more. This time, ‘Cuse came away winners, 84-82. Frustratingly, the margin could’ve been a lot larger too. So maybe turn this off with about 43 seconds to play when SU snags a 78-70 lead. Or pause it ‘til it’s 3 p.m. and then fast forward to the start of the women’s game.

Syracuse women’s basketball at Notre Dame (2020), 3 p.m. — ACC Network

Unfortunately, this was the wrong women’s basketball vs. ND game, though. After winning the first matchup of the season, Syracuse dropped the second, 72-70 at South Bend. The Orange fell behind by 16 to start the contest, then spent the rest of the game clawing back. Things were tied at 70 with 80 seconds to go, and with a chance to tie at the buzzer, Gabrielle Cooper’s layup didn’t fall. When it comes to this one, shut it off when it’s 70-all.

Syracuse football vs. Louisville (2016), 3 p.m. — ACC Network

This is a horror show for Syracuse, as you surely remember, and it landed Syracuse on every Lamar Jackson college highlight reel for eternity. Jackson picked up 610 total yards in a 62-28 loss for the Orange. I will never even entertain watching this game again.
