Get to Know Your Orange Man: #90, K Brandon Peskin

Syracuse has a pretty solid track record of walk-on punters and kickers, so maybe we have another winner on our hands

Syracuse v Maryland

Name: Brandon Peskin

Position: Place Kicker

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 205 lbs.

Hometown: SU says “Long Island, N.Y.” but that’s not a town, so it’s likely Dix Hills, N.Y. based on his high school.

High School: Half Hollow Hills East

2019 stats: Can’t locate any, but he likely made some kicks.

2020 projections: Brandon’s a likely redshirt for the Syracuse Orange right now given how entrenched Andre Szmyt is as the team’s starting kicker.

How’d he get here?: Picked SU over interest from at least a few other FBS schools. But it seems like he wanted to stay in his home state.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Nada, but Kohl’s Kicking Camp saw him as the 53rd-best kicker in the class of 2020.

Money quote: Via Twitter,

Had a great time up at Cuse yesterday!! Can’t wait to get up there for the summer and finally get to work!

Tweets of wonder: Kohl’s Kicking Camp highlights? Kohl’s Kicking Camp highlights.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: It’s far from the best Superman movie, but Brandon Routh plays Superman/Clark Kent in 2006’s Superman Returns. Basically, Superman leaves Earth for five years, and then comes back and needs to prove himself all over again. He’s a tough character to write a “redemption” story for, but this movie at least takes a crack at it.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Kohl’s sees him as a kickoff specialist who can compete right away. With Sterling Hofrichter gone, the Orange at least may have an opening on kickoffs. If Nolan Cooney doesn’t grab the job outright, perhaps Peskin challenges.

Let’s get a look at ya: Hudl time.
