Name: Elijah “Bubba” Wright
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 256 lbs.
Hometown: Syracuse, N.Y.
High School: Solvay
2019 stats: At Solvay, Wright played both sides of the ball. On defense, that amounted to 46 tackles, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two interceptions. He also caught three passes for 48 yards and three scores (efficient!).
2020 projections: Wright, a walk-on seems very likely to redshirt this season.
How’d he get here?: Despite offers from various lower-level schools like Albany, LIU, American International, Hobart, Cortland and more, he preferred what the Syracuse Orange could provide, even with a walk-on opportunity.
What’d recruiting sites say?: No evaluations, unfortunately. Their loss.
Money quote: He shared some of his decision-making process with Syracuse.com, and it ends up SU’s academic stature (and what that meant beyond college) was a big part of it.
“The connections Syracuse has to offer after college was a big factor as well, so I think that was a big selling point for me.”

Tweets of wonder: “Bubba” can lift.
Congratulations @bubbito11 maxed 260lbs bench and 535lbs dead lift today. Bringing his total to 1240lbs. Now it’s time to work! @LeyvonWright pic.twitter.com/DqspeD7zSI

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Robin Wright’s been in quite a few films over the years (though you may recall her most recently in Netflix’s House of Cards). So if we’re picking one movie, we’ll go with 2000’s thriller “Unbreakable,” with Bruce Willis. There, she plays Audrey Dunn, who is the wife of David Dunn (played by Willis).
Interesting nugget o’interest: As Elijah mentioned to Syracuse.com, his dad (Leyvon) also played Division I football. What he doesn’t note there, however, is that his dad may have played football at Alabama (at least, best we can tell).
Let’s get a look at ya: Everyone has Hudl highlights.
