Name: Leon Lowery
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 225 lbs.
Hometown: Elizabeth, N.J.
High School: North Brunswick
2019 stats: Lowery recorded 47 tackles and 13 sacks as a senior. He also added two touchdown receptions as a wide receiver and was named an All-New Jersey player.
2020 projections: Good chance we see Lowery in limited situations this season. He’s got a lot of potential and might find himself included in pass rushing situations and special teams while he works on his strength and technique.
How’d he get here?: He committed to the Orange back in June 2019 and picked Syracuse over offers from Indiana, Rutgers and Temple.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars and a top 45 player in New Jersey.
Money quote: Leon was impressed by Syracuse Orange assistant Vinson Reynolds during the recruiting process.
“It’s a great feeling,” Lowery told Dohn. “He came out showing me love and I appreciate that. I am going to talk to him (on the phone) later, but he is showing me love. He knows I am happy to be with the Orange.”

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Steve brought this one up already but we’re going with Bad Boys and Will Smith’s portrayal of Miami police office Mike Lowrey.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Leon didn’t take his first snap at defensive end until his junior season so his rapid rise to earn a scholarship speaks to his athletic ability and potential.
