Name: Tyler Cook

Position: Linebacker

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 205 lbs

Hometown: Chatham, N.J.

High School: Seton Hall Prep

2019 stats: As a senior at Seton Hall Prep, Tyler logged 80 tackles, including 12 for loss (and three sacks).

2020 projections: The walk-on is likely going to redshirt for the Syracuse Orange, though linebacker’s one of a handful of positions where it may be all hands on deck. So you never know.

How’d he get here?: Tyler had offers from schools like Morehead State, Merrimack and Marist, but opted for the FBS walk-on route instead back in March.

What’d recruiting sites say?: No ratings. Lame.

Money quote: This quote was about his high school team, but it could be useful for Syracuse as well.

“This year is a real stepping stone for the program. This will pay dividends for the program in the future in the grand scheme of things to get it back to where it was years ago.”

Tweets of wonder: Wore 44? Seems like this was preordained.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Rachel Leigh Cook starred opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. in 1999’s She’s All That. For the uninitiated, a high school jock makes a bet that he can turn a traditionally unattractive girl into the prom queen, then winds up falling for her in the process.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Seton Hall Prep was originally on the campus of Seton Hall University, if you’re wondering what the link is. However, they moved in 1985 to West Orange.

Let’s get a look at ya: Of course, there’s Hudl highlights.
