Name: Russell Thompson-Bishop
Position: Wide receiver
Year: (Redshirt) Junior
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 234 lbs.
Hometown: Bloomfield, Conn.
High School: Bloomfield High School
2019 stats: Appeared in two games but didn’t record any stats.
2020 projections: There are opportunities for Thompson-Bishop to earn time in a crowded wide receiver corps. His size could make him an interesting match-up problem for smaller defensive backs in the middle of the field.
How’d he get here?: Thompson-Bishop was a top-10 player in Connecticut so it’s no surprise he received interest from Northeast schools like Temple, Army, UConn and Boston College.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from 247Sports and ESPN, with Scout and Rivals giving out a two-star rating.
Money quote: Here’s Thompson-Bishop talking about his motivation from his senior year in high school.
“Every piece of adversity has made me stronger and built character in me and made me into the man I am,” Thompson-Bishop said.

Tweets of wonder: Lots of retweets so we’ll go with his pinned tweet and say let’s keep sending those underrated athletes from the Nutmeg State to Syracuse

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: This year we’re going with the classic film “Juice” where Tupac makes his acting debut playing Bishop. In addition to having one of the best movie soundtracks of all-time, the movie gives us the very Syracuse-centric line “Yo you’ve got the juice now”.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Thompson-Bishop’s uncle is John Lobon, one of the Syracuse 8. A very interesting connection to a pivotal time in Syracuse’s athletic history.
