Get to Know Your Orange Man: #20, DB Cam Jonas

What a man gotta do to get some reps from you?

NCAA Football: Western Michigan at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Cam Jonas

Position: Defensive Back

Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 212

Hometown: West Palm Beach, Fla.

High School: Dwyer

2019 Stats: Jonas didn’t play last season.

2020 projections: Jonas was listed as the backup for Andre Cisco in the spring football depth chart. With the transfer of Allen Stritzinger we could see Jonas playing the Rover position or serving as an extra defensive back on passing downs.

How’d he get here?: Jonas turned down offers from 15 other schools — including in-state programs like Miami and Florida State — and signed with the Orange in December of 2017.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from all recruiting sites.

Money Quote: When Cam tore his ACL in a preseason practice the Orange were quick to let him know that his scholarship offer was still available and he appreciated that

“It took the pressure off my chest to see that they’ll stay loyal,” said Jonas of talking with the Syracuse coaches after the injury.

Tweets of wonder: Cam’s feed is all retweets and now that he’s in the NFL we can appreciate Lamar Jackson highlights

What movie would Dino recommend for him: This year Dino goes with another movie starring The Rock, Jumani: The Next Level. We chose this one because it also features Nick Jonas and we hope you grade as us as well as Kool Moe Dee for sticking to themes.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Former Syracuse defensive back and NunesMagician contributor Julian Whigham is also an alum of Dwyer High School
