Name: Markenzy Pierre
Position: Running Back
Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 217
Hometown: Orlando, Fla.
High School: Liberty
2019 stats: Was a special teamer in all 12 games on the year, including a 31-yard return against the Louisville Cardinals. He also got a few carries, with five on the year for six yards in total.
2020 projections: Last season, it was Moe Neal and Abdul Adams (and Jarveon Howard) in front of him, and it looks like this year, Jawhar Jordan has jumped him, but he should be right in the mix behind Adams and Jordan this season. He’ll likely be featured on special teams as well.
How’d he get here?: He flipped from Western Kentucky after Syracuse came in with offer. We were his first P5, and only P5.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around.
Money quote: Talking with Syracuse.com, Pierre’s high school coach Cory Johns had this to say —
“This year, I don’t think anyone’s tackled him 1-on-1 all year long,” Johns said. “I don’t think anyone’s gotten close.”

Tweets of wonder: Looks like Markenzy is looking to leave his mark —

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Being from Orlando, we’ll run with the Disney theme. Coco was released in 2017, the year that Pierre came north to the Orange, much like the main characters journey to the land of the dead. Thanks, Pixar!
Interesting nugget o’interest: Pierre grew up in New Jersey until he was seven or eight, so heading back up north to Syracuse may not have been quite the weather shock you’d expect for a kid from Orlando.
