Get to Know Your Orange Man: #86, WR Ja’Vontae Williams

Get to know the newest Florida wideout.

NCAA Football: Central Michigan at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ja’Vontae Williams

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 200 lbs.

Hometown: Belle Glade, Fla.

High School: Glades Central

2019 stats: A high school team captain, Williams only had 8 catches for 278 yards and touchdowns after a junior season that saw him rack up over 500 yards on 33 receptions.

2020 projections: There are a lot of widouts on the roster, so unless Williams is tremendously impressive, he’ll likely redshirt.

How’d he get here?: Williams’ offer list included Oregon, Miami, Indiana, Illinois, USF, and FIU among others.

What’d recruiting sites say?: 3 stars, all around.

Money quote: Let’s look at that 1000% committed announcement again.

Twitter feed: @oneewaytank

Tweets of wonder: As an incoming freshman, he got an awesome signing announcement video.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: He’s coming up from Florida with a rival who now has to be his teammate? Sounds like a buddy cop movie to me, so let’s go with the original Bad Boys.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Both Williams and incoming Orange Latarie Kinsler announced in the same ceremony, and the two on were on either side of a fierce “Muck” rivalry in high school.

Let’s get a look at ya: High school highlights time!
