The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program has picked up its first commitment from the class of 2021. Benny Williams, a 6-foot-8 small forward out of Potomac, M.D., has committed to play basketball at Syracuse, as first reported by Stock Risers.

Williams picked Syracuse over other finalists in Georgetown, Maryland and Miami. In an interview with Stockrisers.com, Williams said, “I knew the first time I went to their elite camp, for my first visit. I knew.”

Williams is ranked No. 47 in the class, according to 247. He plays high school basketball at St. Andrews Episcopal in Maryland and runs with Team Takeover on the AAU circuit, the same AAU program that produced former Syracuse players Jerami Grant and Frank Howard. Chalk up another DMV-area recruit to Adrian Autry.

“I picked them because of the relationship we built going back two years ago, especially coach Red [Autry] and with coach [Jim] Boeheim,” Williams said in an interview with Evan Daniels.

Williams’s commitment comes after class of 2020 center Frank Anselem committed to the Orange on Wednesday.
