Name: Zach Morton
Position: Defensive End
Year: (Redshirt) Junior
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 250 lbs
Hometown: Detroit, Mich.
High School: Cass Technical
2019 stats: Morton has only played in four career games -- all of them in 2019. He played against Liberty, Holy Cross, Boston College, and Duke, but didn’t record any stats. He redshirted in 2017 and sat out 2018 due to a knee injury in preseason camp.
2020 projections: Morton was listed as the backup to Josh Black on the spring depth chart, however that may change when Kingsley Jonathan comes back from a spring injury. It’s still nice to see his name on the two-deep and his name should be in the conversation for some decent playing time, especially given the unknowns about Syracuse’s adjustment to the 3-3-5.
How’d he get here?: Morton picked Syracuse over some decent FBS programs including Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Iowa State, Miami (OH) and Cincinnati.
What’d recruiting sites say?: All say three stars.
Money quote: After a down year on sacks compared to 2018, a mentality like this will certainly help.
The thing that Morton is looking forward to the most is getting into the backfield and “destroy the quarterback.”

Tweets of wonder: I mean they did pretty well without him, but to each their own I guess. This surely won’t stir up debate in the comment section, right?
Lakers should’ve kept Ingram

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Maybe it’s just because I’m excited that Formula 1 comes back in July, but “Rush” sounds like a great suggestion. The fact that one of the main characters — Niki Lauda — comes back from injury to win the drivers’ championship could serve as some nice inspiration for Morton to rally from his 2018 injury and make an impact on the defensive line this season. And for all the ladies, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth. Sold.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Morton is one of two players on the Orange roster from Detroit; the other being Allen Strizinger.
Let’s get a look at ya: Still no official stats on Morton in a SU uniform, so let’s look at his high school tape.
