Name: Jason Muñoz
Position: Defensive End
Year: (Redshirt) Freshman
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 241 lbs.
Hometown: Hollywood, Fla.
High School: St. Thomas Aquinas
2019 stats: None, as he took his redshirt
2020 projections: Muñoz dropped about 10 pounds from when he came into the program, and could very well become a ‘tweener in the new 3-3-5 system the Syracuse Orange are expected to implement. While he may not see much action along the line in 2020, there’s a good chance he will get to compete for time on special teams.
How’d he get here?: Originally signed his letter of intent with Miami, however he was granted a release when Mark Richt stepped down as head coach. From there, he took a Syracuse visit and committed to the Orange with interest from Missouri, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Louisville and more.
What’d recruiting sites say?: A consensus 3-star recruit, Muñoz was the no. 56 strong-side defensive end this cycle by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.
Money quote: Nick Monroe was very happy to land the defensive lineman in the 2019 signing video announcing Muñoz’s arrival to campus.
We got ourselves a really tough nosed, hard core defensive lineman who creates a new line of scrimmage ever snap he takes.

Tweets of wonder: If you were wondering about some more specifics as to how Muñoz got to Syracuse, this provides at least a little more context.
At this point, Syracuse-bound Jason Munoz is only signed commit who UM says has been granted release from letter of intent amid coaching change. UM said it saw Munoz as DT. UM has added 3 DTs (Blissett, Holley, UCLA transfer Nnoruka) and pursuing Jared Harrison-Hunte.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: He’s a big Miami kid who’s going to make his second choice the best choice? I’m going to say Dino’s hitting him with the DVD of Bad Boys II.
Interesting nugget o’interest: STA is a Miami powerhouse, churning out NFLers like Michael Irvin and Giovanni Bernard. It’s no wonder Miami went in on him early.
