Former Syracuse Orange men’s basketball player Donte Greene is the latest to join Boeheim’s Army, according to general manager Kevin Belbey. Donna Ditota was first to report.

Greene will suit up for The Basketball Tournament (TBT) alongside Eric Devendorf, John Gillon, Tyler Lydon, Chris McCullough, Demetris Nichols, Malachi Richardson and Brandon Triche. Ryan Blackwell will coach Boeheim’s Army.

Greene has played with Boeheim’s Army in the past, including the team’s 2017 Final Four appearance in Baltimore. He played just one season at Syracuse and went on to become the 28th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent his early professional career in the NBA and the G-League before beginning an overseas career in 2013.

Last week TBT announced that it will host the tournament from one central location this summer. A city has yet to be announced, but basketball is expected to tip-off in early July to avoid conflicting with the NBA.

The tournament has been whittled down to 24 teams and will take place over the course of 10 days. Players will be tested for Covid-19 prior to games and will continue to be screened throughout the event. Should any player test positive at any point, both he and his team will be removed from the tournament.

Given this new tournament structure, Boeheim’s Army of course will not play in Syracuse this summer. Fans who bought tickets in advance will be refunded in full.
