Position: Defensive line
Year: (Redshirt) Freshman
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 255
Hometown: Hanahan, S.C.
High School: Hanahan
2019 stats: Redshirt season
2020 projections: Dawson will provide depth along the defensive line. With the new defensive system we’ll see if he moves to the interior especially in pass situations.
How’d he get here?: He picked the Orange over a number of other schools including the Clemson Tigers and UCF Knights.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Everyone said three stars.
Money quote: During the recruiting process Dawson had the opportunity to take a late scholarship offer from Clemson but his official visit to Syracuse convinced him to head north.
“t’s a real nice family up there. They want me for defensive end. Their coaches all wanted me for different positions but they offered at defensive end. Coach Babers is a straight-up guy. He likes to joke around but he takes the recruiting process seriously. He gets to the point really quick. We had a good meeting this morning (Sunday) at his house.”

Tweets of wonder: Always nice to see the Orange out in the community

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Dino’s going with another Gary Cooper classic but this year it will be “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”
Interesting nugget o’interest: Dawson’s father Kelly played for the Georgia Southern Eagles where he was a member of two 1-AA National Championship teams.
Let’s get a look at ya: We don’t have Syracuse game footage yet so let’s look at one of the best commitment ceremonies you’ll see
This is one of the greatest signing days you will ever see. Hanahan’s Cooper Dawson picks Syracuse- but does it by first telling close friend Kingsley Feinman. Kingsley announces the decision- Dawson adds that Kingsley taught him the only disability is a bad attitude. @ABCNews4 pic.twitter.com/3OGJzJmlXg
