It’s Marvel Week around SBNation, and obviously no one needed to twist our arms to participate. What if we were going to recast the MCU movies with Syracuse Orange athletes? We think it might go something like this:
Captain America: Carmelo Anthony
Melo’s played in four Olympic Games and is Team USA’s all-time leader in games, points and rebounds. Let Melo throw on his hoodie and grab his shield.
Iron Man: Eric Devendorf
Brash. A bit reckless. In time he becomes more interested in what can benefit the community at large.
Thor: Glen Young
The linebacker from the North brought the thunder when he hammered opposing running backs.
Hulk: Mark Kerr
The former NCAA and MMA Champion known as The Smashing Machine is our choice. If your life is going to be portrayed on scren by The Rock then you’re going to make our squad.
Scarlet Witch: Tiana Mangakahia
The ability to bend reality with her passes and manipulate opposing defenses with her ball-handling. We can’t wait to see Tiana back on
Vision: Tyler Ennis
Watching Ennis play during his one season at Syracuse we’re not surely he’s completely human.
Captain Marvel: Brittney Sykes
Blessed with special powers to lead with courage and a bit of flair.
Black Widow: Kayla Treanor
Treanor seems like she was trained from birth to unleash a vast array of weapons on her foes.
Hawkeye: Mikey Powell
Exceptional in many facets but known most of his lethal precision. You don’t want to be caught in his sights.
Ant-Man: Gene Mills
Overlook his size at your own risk because the combination of speed and power will overwhelm many bigger foes.
Falcon: Hakim Warrick
Who else would you imagine soaring through the sky?
Doctor Strange: Roy Simmons Jr
The ability to quickly calculate the perfect strategy and having the strength to remain stoic under intense pressure. His use of mystical powers overwhelms opponents while motivating his charges.
Spider-Man: Alex Bono
You think you’ve slotted that in the upper 90 when out of nowhere here he comes flying in to thwart the attack.
Black Panther: Justyn Knight
Mild-mannered until the suit is on and the claws come out and then opponents should be running scared.
Killmonger: Andre Cisco
You see the cover photo but no one knows if Cisco’s commemorating every interception with a tattoo.
Shuri: Uhunoma Osazuwa
The former Olympic heptathlon competitor possesses a vast skill set which includes a degree in pharmacy. Comfortable in the lab and in the midst of competition she is primed to lead.
Drax: Dwight Freeney
Destroyer of offensive game plans. He won’t stop spinning until he’s sacked everyone.
Gamora: Polina Shemanova
A superior athlete with the ability to use an array of weaponry to win the battle.

Wasp: Alyssa Manley
The stellar defender is always buzzing around opponents foiling their attack schemes and pushing them from their goals.
Star Lord: Eric Dungey
Another renegade who takes a rag-tag group and pushes them to take out a truly powerful opponent.
