Like many of you, I’d assumed the Syracuse Orange football team was pretty much done with the class of 2020. And it ends up we were wrong there, as linebacker Anwar Sparrow announced his commitment late on Wednesday night (he’s now signed with SU too, per Syracuse.com).

Sparrow stands at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, and has a three-star rating from 247Sports (no rating in the composite rankings, however). He’s from Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Va. and his commitment winds up being the first recruiting win for new cornerbacks coach Chip West — so glad to see his hire’s paid off alreayd. Sparrow’s only other recorded offers are Appalachian State and Norfolk State. He also visited Louisville in late January, but it doesn’t appear an offer came from that.
With a few scholarships still available, we’ll see if Syracuse makes any additional moves in the lead-up to what’s hopefully the 2020 football season. Sparrow’s the second linebacker in this class, joining Stefon Thompson, who’s already on campus.
Welcome aboard, Anwar! You can check out his tape below.
