2020 S.O.B. Awards voting: Jim Boeheim Quote of the Year

The time has come once again to begin the voting process for another category of the 2020 S.O.B. (Syracuse Orange basketball) Awards! Today we’ll start the voting process for the best Jim Boeheim quote of the 2019-20 season.

In case you missed them, here are the categories we’ve already covered.

• Best walk-on
• Most surprising player
• Most improved player
• Best game of the season
• Best moment

There were certainly lots of options to pick from this year. Remember way back to the first game of the season, after the disastrous loss to Virginia, when coach called early ACC games stupid and a money grab?

Or there was the time after the Oakland game, where Jim Boeheim called the crowd “sad” and “sickening, really” after he himself had to pump up the crowd when the lead dipped to five points.

In fairness to Boeheim, you could hear a pin drop during most of that game, and he did later change course, calling the crowds “tremendous” three days later after a win against North Florida.

Will anyone soon forget the time Jim blasted KenPom (when he really meant Synergy) after a loss to Louisville, where he aggressively bashed defensive analytics that pointed to some deficiencies for certain players in the zone?

And then of course there is of course his comments about Greensboro during the ACC Tournament. No, not the time he said there was no value playing in Greensboro. We’re talking about his much more recent about-face, where he complimented the city and said, “I’ve been to Greensboro a couple of times and it’s a nice place.”
