Unhateable: Five Georgetown Hoyas that Syracuse fans don’t hate

We told you this was coming...

Georgetown University Hoyas Men’s Basketball

We’re trying to build stronger communities at this time, so we’re taking this idea presented by our sworn bowl rivals, Bring on the Cats (the Kansas State SB Nation blog), and applying it to Syracuse Orange rivals. It will require us to look at some of our rivals — both old and new — and find players/coaches from that school who we might not really like, but that we can honestly say we don’t hate.

Today we go old-school and look at the Georgetown Hoyas.

1) Allen Iverson- You probably didn’t like him while he was with the Hoyas. That’s fine, but if you like basketball and you can’t appreciate what Iverson did on the court for the Philadelphia 76ers (while wearing some hideous uniforms) then it’s a problem. Oh and check out this sweet assist from a familiar face on the first play here

3) Sabrina Southerland- We stick with track and field to highlight the younger sister of James Southerland. Sabrina was a Big East champion. All-American and school record holder in the 800m during her career with the Hoyas but she waited to get to Oregon before she won a NCAA title. We should all be able to applaud that.

4) Bradley Cooper- yep the actor was a member of the Hoyas crew team and I’m going to guess you’ve enjoyed at least one of his movies.

5) John Thompson III- we have to conclude this list with the guy who gave us so many wonderful March memories

Honorable Mention:

Steve Holman- In 1992 Holman won the NCAA 1500m championship and made the US Olympic Team. He was a ten-time All-American for the Hoyas and one of the best runners I’ve seen.
