The Syracuse Orange football team hasn’t been able to handle recruiting in-person as they normally would, so you can excuse the slower news cycle around forming the 2021 class. Still, SU’s been able to make some things happen on the trail nonetheless.
On Monday night, the Orange added their third name for 2021: running back Josh Hough.

The Beaver Falls, Pa. back is 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, and is a two-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings (247 itself gives him three). He currently has offers in from Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Toledo, Bowling Green and numerous others. While UK and Pitt offers don’t necessarily mean he’s better than he’s rated, offers from those two would at least indicate he’s probably closer to a three-star than a two.
As Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey notes, he had 1,273 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. That’s some impressive production, especially when combined with his size. Given Syracuse’s constant red zone struggles, we’re obviously always looking for another powerful ball-carrier or two. On paper, at least, Hough appears to fit the bill.
So Hough’s addition makes three players for 2021, including defensive lineman Terry Lockett and safety Malcom Folk. No one’s claiming these are huge names just yet, but this class getting some early wins on the board is a good way to build momentum as the recruiting cycle goes on.
Welcome aboard, Josh! You can check out his highlights below.
