Teams: Syracuse Orange (15-14, 9-9) vs. Virginia Cavaliers (13-16, 8-10)
Day and Time: Thursday, March 5, 2:00pm E.T.
Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina (VALUE!!!).
Where to Watch: YES Network (RSN)
UVA Blog: Streaking the Lawn
Current Record: 7-5, Syracuse
Last Meeting: Virginia crushed the Orange earlier this year by a score of 57-41 in Charlottesville. Kiara Lewis scored just two points.
Head Coaches: Syracuse - Quentin Hillsman (14th season, 303-157 at SU). Virginia - Tina Thompson (second season, 25-34 at UVA)
Coach Bio: Tina Thompson would definitely be a familiar name to women’s hoops fans. After her college career at USC, she became a star in the WNBA after being selected 1st overall. She’s a 4-time WNBA champion, 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and is currently 2nd all time in scoring in the WNBA. After her playing days, she went to Texas to become an assistant coach, before landing as the head coach at UVA last season. She was named to the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2018. It seems to be only a matter of time for Virginia to turn the corner and become a relevant team with Turner in charge.
Last Year: Virginia struggled last season, finishing with a 12-19 record. They went just 5-11 in league play and lost to Syracuse twice.
Last Game: Virginia played a really tough game and took a tenth ranked N.C. State team down to the wire, but lost 75-64 at home.

“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Timelords”: Last time against the Orange, senior Jocelyn Willoughby scored 24 points on 7-12 shooting. She was unstoppable in the paint, as none of her 24 points came from beyond the arc. Syracuse needs to slow her down today if they want to play again tomorrow. Willoughby is stud, as she’s averaging a team best 19.6 ppg and 7.5 rpg. At this point, she seems to be a better scoring Emily Engstler, but Engstler definitely has the ability to be just as good as her. It will be interesting to see how Coach Q tries to slow her down today.
If Syracuse Wins: The one team the Louisville Cardinals do not want to play in their first game in the ACC Tournament is Syracuse, based on how well they played them both on the road and beating them in the Dome. Win today, and we get the trilogy of what has been a great series this year.
If Syracuse loses: A tough loss in a very tough season. The women at 15-15 will likely be invited to the WNIT.
