Syracuse football bracket: Elite 8 voting

This sort of went as expected, except where it didn’t.

Football Player Escaping Tackle

Not that you didn’t have this answer already, but we wanted to know which past teams Syracuse Orange fans thought was the best of all-time — or at least, since 1950. So we started up Monday’s tournament with the top 16, and that voting has already knocked us down to just eight squads.

On the least surprising front, the 1959 and 1987 teams advanced by wide margins, with the only surprising part being the fact that three people voted for the 1959 team’s opponent (the 7-4 Sugar Bowl team from 1964). In terms of most surprising developments, it was unexpected to see the 2018 team get housed by the 1991 team. And the 1992 team winning by such a resounding (87%-13%) margin over the 1963 team.

Below you’ll find all four matchups in our Elite 8. The bracket is also below, for those who like the visual better. Expect more extensive write-ups when we get to the Final Four.

Voting for this round wraps up at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
