Where can you watch ‘classic’ Syracuse games? (week of March 23)

Another week of Orange matchups you may or may not want to relive.

You won’t find live Syracuse Orange games on television this week, or any week for the foreseeable future. However, with programming space to fill, most sports networks are showing a lot of classic games for people to watch instead.

Each week — on Mondays — we’ll be highlighting how you can watch the Orange and when. Maybe you’ll enjoy some of these. Others, not so much.

(all times ET)

Monday, March 23

Football: Syracuse at NC State (2019), noon - ACCN

God, this is one of the worst sporting events I’ve ever watched in-person (or really, at all). Syracuse’s offense did nothing for much of the game, then almost came back to win... before losing 16-10 with possession in Wolfpack territory as time expired.

Men’s basketball: Notre Dame at Syracuse (2020), 2 p.m. - ESPNU

You don’t want to watch this either. Syracuse lost a late 84-81 lead, finding themselves down 88-84 at the Dome, only to hit a three at the buzzer. But many thought Joe Girard was fouled on the shot and should’ve gone to the line with a chance to tie. SU didn’t get the call and wound up with the loss.

Football: Syracuse at NC State (2019), Midnight - ACCN

You could not pay me to watch this game again. Never mind twice in one day.

Men’s basketball: Notre Dame at Syracuse (2020), 2 a.m. - ESPNU

Nope. You can’t make me watch it again, or I’ll be doomed to dissect the contact on the final shot for years to come.

Football: Pittsburgh at Syracuse (2019), noon - ACCN

Another one you’d prefer to avoid. In desperate need of a win, the Orange came out slow again vs. Pitt, falling behind 24-6 before mounting a comeback and getting the ball down just 27-20 late in the fourth. Things didn’t work out, and there was another controversial call that didn’t go in SU’s favor (this one an apparent fumble recovery). Burn this tape.

Wednesday, March 25

Football: Pittsburgh at Syracuse (2019), 3 a.m. - ACCN

It’s on after midnight because no one needs to see this again.

Football: Syracuse at Florida State (2019), 3 p.m. - ACCN

A shrug-worthy 35-17 loss for Syracuse where the Orange barely challenged and looked pretty listless all afternoon.

Football: Boston College at Syracuse (2019), 9 p.m. - ACCN

Not today, Satan.

Thursday, March 26

Football: Syracuse at Florida State (2019), 3 a.m. - ACCN

Do ‘Noles fans even want to watch this a second time?

Friday, March 27

Football: Syracuse at Duke (2019), 9 p.m. - ACCN

Oh finally, something good. Syracuse’s season was on the brink of collapse — then they went down to Durham and stomped the Blue Devils, 49-6. This was a fun one that restored faith in 2019, even if only for a weekend.

Saturday, March 28

Football: Syracuse at Louisville (2019), 3 p.m. - ACCN

... And then this game dashed all of those hopes. SU’s been pretty bad against mobile QBs in recent years, and Micale Cunningham was the latest to chew them up in a 56-34 game that featured minimal defense on either side. At least the offense worked for Syracuse.

Saturday, March 29

Men’s Basketball: Notre Dame at Syracuse (2020), 3 p.m. - ACCN

Once more unto the breach?

***

There will certainly be more weeks like this one ahead. And while the ACC Network won’t be airing old Big East games, there’s a shot that we see them on ESPN Classic or ESPNU at some point. Right now, leagues have been focusing on airing games from more recent seasons, but that inventory runs out pretty quickly.
