Teams: Syracuse Orange (10-11, 4-6) vs. Boston College Eagles (12-9, 5-5)
Day and Time: Thursday, February 6, 7 pm E.T.
Location: Conte Forum, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Where to Watch: ACC Network Extra
Boston College Blog: BC Interruption
Current Record: 31-23, Syracuse. Syracuse has not lost to BC since 2005. Coach Q is 11-0 all time against the Eagles.
Last Meeting: In the last game of the 2018-19 regular season, the Orange crushed BC by a score of 76-59 in Chestnut Hill.
Head Coaches: Syracuse - Quentin Hillsman (14th season, 298-155 at SU). Boston College - Joanna Bernabei-Mcnamee (2nd season, 26-25 at BC)
Coach Bio: Joanna Bernabei-Mcnamee has been coaching basketball since she graduated from West Liberty State in 1997. She has held various assistant coaching jobs in the women’s game, including Maryland and West Virginia. From 2016-2018, she was the head coach at UAlbany, where she went to one NCAA tournament and one WNIT tournament. Her first year at BC was last year as she was hired to revamp the women’s program.
Last Year: The Eagles played pretty well last year compared to previous seasons, but really struggled in league play, going 3-13. They finished with an overall record of 14-16, and did not participate in a postseason tournament.
Last Game: BC pulled off an absolute shocker, going into Tallahassee and beating the 17th ranked Seminoles 65-56, the biggest win in Joanna Bernabei-Mcnamee’s tenure in Chestnut Hill.
“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Timelords”: I think sophomore forward Taylor Soule is going to pose some problems for the Orange today. Her ability to rebound and score in the paint has plagued the Cuse this year, and her sheer athleticism has made her one of the more under the radar players in the ACC. She does a lot of the little things for the Eagles, so expect her name not to get called a whole lot tonight, but her impact will be huge.
If Syracuse Wins: A win here won’t do much for our at large hopes, because I don’t think we have much anyway. But it shows this team is still playing hard and can win tough road games. Every win counts, and for Coach Q he needs just 2 more to get to 300.
If Syracuse loses: Can’t really say a terrible loss based on the way the year has gone, but losing to BC for the first time since I was six years old isn’t great.
