The Syracuse Orange track and field team was in Boston over the weekend to compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. On Saturday the Syracuse men took to the track and in the 60m hurdles Jamil Adams and Naseem Smith finished 6th and 7th. Nathan Lawler was the top collegiate runner in the 5000m finishing in a time of 14:03.09 which is the fourth-fastest ACC time this season. Matt Scrape finished in 14:06 which puts him seventh on the ACC list.

Nathan Henderson narrowly missed becoming the next Syracuse runner to reach the sub-4 mile club finishing in 4:00.52 which puts him fifth on the ACC list this season. Joe Dragon ran 8:00.28 in the 3000m to move into sixth on the ACC list and gives the Orange a top-10 ACC performance in each of the three distance events on the men’s side.

Syracuse will have one more meet next weekend at Cornell before the ACC Indoor Championships at the end of the month.

In alumni news, Iliass Aouani (who does have outdoor eligibility left) set a new Italian national record in the mile with a 4:00.07 at the Valentine Invite and Jaret Eaton took 2nd place in the 60m hurdles at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque. Congratulations to both Iliass and Jaret!
