Head Coaches: Syracuse - Quentin Hillsman (14th season, 300-155 at SU). North Carolina - Courtney Banghart (1st season, 16-8 at UNC)

Coach Bio: Courtney Banghart was the longtime coach of perennial Ivy League champs Princeton from 2007-2019. After eight NCAA tournament appearances, she took over the reigns in Chapel Hill. After her team finished 31-1 in 2015, she was named the Naismith National Coach of the Year. Their lone loss would come in the second round of the tournament to Maryland. Even though they were undefeated, they were an eight seed in the tournament. Banghart played her college ball at Dartmouth.

Last Year: The Heels finished 18-15 a year ago which was good enough for an NCAA birth, but lost in the first found to California.

Last Game: UNC lost their last game to Virginia Tech by a score of 72-63. It was their second straight loss, and fourth loss out of 7.

“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Timelords”: 6-4 junior center Janelle Bailey is going to cause some problems today for the Orange. She is one of the league’s best players and one of the countries best bigs. She has the constant ability to score over twenty points and grab ten boards any given night. Earlier in the year against Miami, she put up 26 points and had 15 boards. She’s simply an unreal player, but Engstler and Guilty and been playing very well defensively lately, so look for that to be a marquee matchup.

If Syracuse Wins: Need this one bad. UNC is a pretty good team but it looks like we got them struggling. A win here after Louisville will start the bubble talk to really intensify.

If Syracuse loses: Have to win out the rest of the regular season, or at worst, just suffer one loss to No. 4 NC State. Season isn’t over, but every game means a lot more now.
