Teams: No. 22 Syracuse Orange (2-0) vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (3-0)

Day & Time: Sunday, December 6, 2 p.m. ET

Location: Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.

TV/Streaming: ACC Network with Debbie Antonelli and Jenn Hildreth on the call

Radio: Cuse.com

Penn State Blog: Black Shoe Diaries

Rivalry: 3-16

Current Streak: Syracuse has won the last two match-ups.

Teams Last Meeting: The two teams last met in 2014, where the Orange defeated the Nittany Lions 61-39 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Orange Storylines: Tiana Mangakahia was ranked No. 12 in The Athletic’s most intriguing WNBA Draft prospects.

Syracuse’s Last Game: The Orange defeated Division II Lincoln at the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center Wednesday night, 90-39. The game was moved to Melo because of a few droplets of water on the Carrier Dome floor. The moisture was the result of condensation, not a leak from the roof. The game was switched to a scrimmage and then made an official game, SU Athletics announced Thursday morning.

Freshman Kamilla Cardoso and Priscilla Williams earned their first career starts and combined for 49 of Syracuse’s 90 points with 25 and 24, respectively. Cardoso also added nine rebounds and seven steals.

Statement from Syracuse University Senior Associate Vice President for Communications “Over the last several hours, our team, as well as outside engineers have conducted a full review of what caused a game official to spot a few droplets of water on the court at the stadium last night. We have determined that the moisture was the result of condensation, not a leak from the roof. This is the first winter with our new roof, as well as a new heating and cooling system, and we are still fine-tuning the management of this system. We have resolved this issue and are ready to host the men’s basketball game this evening against Niagara.”

Head Coaches: Syracuse - Quentin Hillsman (15th year, 306-160) | Penn State - Carolyn Kieger (second year, 10-23)

Opponent Coach Bio: Kieger was a four-year starter and three-year captain on the Marquette women’s basketball team. She was an assistant coach at Miami, before returning to Marquette to be the head coach. Kieger posted a 99-64 overall record in five seasons and was a 2019 Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Award semifinalist.

Opponent Last Year: Last season, Penn State went 7-23 with a 1-17 Big 10 record.

Opponent’s Last Game: On Thursday, Penn State’s Makenna Marisa hit the game-winning shot to seal a one-point, 70-69 victory over Rhode Island. Marisa led the team with a career high 17 points, while three other Nittany Lions hit double figures.

Opponent Player’s to Watch: Six Penn State players are averaging double digits so far this season, but Villanova transfer Kelly Jekot has made the largest impact this season. Jekot leads Penn State with 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

If Syracuse Wins: The Orange will be undefeated at the start of Atlantic Coast Conference play.

If Syracuse Loses: Penn State has already racked up a pair of 30+ point wins this season. They are a good team that is overshadowed by other big names in their conference. If the Orange were to lose, it would not be the end of the world.
